Become a Donor / Facts

At Cryos India, what matters most  are things like the motility of your sperm, your sperm count, your family and personal medical history, your psychological outlook, and numerous other things listed below. Check it all out, carefully, and if you believe you can meet these requirements, we would like to talk with you. We assure full anonymity and your identity would be totally secured.

To donate, you’ll need to be at least 21 but no older than 42. You must be able to visit our office in Mulund (Mumbai) at least once a week. Our hours are 9:30 am to6:00 pm Monday through Saturday. We are looking for at least a six month commitment. In the case of students, we ask for two semesters annually.

You must be able to supply us with in-depth medical histories for both sides of your biological family. You need to have no ongoing or chronic health issues. We reserve the rights (based on regulations) to reject the sample on Medical grounds.

Our donor screening process starts with an online application. (If you prefer to visit our office first, then you would be filling the application by hand) After you have completed and submitted it, we may ask for more information, or we may have a face-to-face interview with you. Be sure to bring along either a passport/driver’s license/PAN card/latest Voter ID or other form of government-issued photo identification. (One of these)

Along with your initial interview, the purpose of this first visit will be to provide us with a semen sample being alone in a comfortable, private room designed for this purpose. (You will have a better sperm count if you abstain from ejaculating for at least 48 hours prior to submitting a sample.) You will need to return to our office and submit two more samples during the following several days. We will then analyze all three samples for sperm count, motility, progression, morphology and freezing traits.

If your samples exhibit the required characteristics, we will begin our comprehensive screening process. The screening takes about one- two weeks and includes testing for Genetic diseases, STD’s, Medical Examination and psychological profiling. We do these costly tests free of cost for you. There is no payment during this process but if you are accepted into our program you will be paid for each ejaculate which remains after testing.

Once accepted, you will need to visit our office at least once a week. You will be paid in parts for the first time after you have donated 10 usable samples. As an approved donor you’ll need to give us blood sample for testing every three months, and you will receive an annual physical examination for as long as you remain an active donor (These procedures are free to you). You will receive in parts a compensation for each ejaculate sample that meets our requirements. The compensation may vary from donor to donor based on the quality of accepted sperm samples. Once your final blood test is negative for infectious diseases, and your sample is free of quarantine, you would be treated as ‘Donor’ till such time you would be known as ‘Donor Candidate’ and final installment of compensation would be paid only after you qualify as Donor.

More on Examination Sperm
As donor sperms is mainly used to ensure effective treatment of women to have a baby it must be of a highest quality, which means that it should be able to fertilize the egg. The sample is tested in the lab under microscope.

Normally parameters like volume, concentration of sperm cells (number of sperm per. ml), motility (number of moving sperm per. ml), Grade (degree of movement of individual cells), morphology (physical appearance - normal / abnormal or immature)) are measured as per WHO standards. Better the parameter, the chances of fertilization is more.

The sample is said to be normal when there are more than 20 million sperms per ml, over 50% motility and less than 50% morphological abnormalities. Average volume per ejaculate is 3ml, but it varies from donor to donor.

As these sperms are frozen and then used after thawing (warming) they are subjected to ultra cold temperatures. There would be considerable amount of drop in number and motility of sperms after thawing. The donor having accepted parameters with post-thaw sperm sample would be asked to give more samples as a donor candidate.

Anonymous Donor
Cryos International-India assures full anonymity and confidentiality of the donor and receiving centres. That means the recipient of donor sperm or the child would never know the identity of the donor, nor would the donor know identity of recipient or a child. Hence all donors at Cryos International-India would normally be anonymous and be identified only with auto unique generated code.

Non - Anonymous Donor
Non-Anonymous donors are also called ‘Open’ donors and their information would be made available to the child, born through Donors Sperm, if he/she wishes – only after completion of 18 years of age.

Many countries prefer only anonymous donors, but a few countries have made it mandatory to use only non- anonymous donor sperms.

AT  CRYOS INDIA ONLY ANONYMOUS DONORS ARE ACCEPTED
